Import a file containing custom items

First you need to create a file containing all the items you would like to import according to the following format

Then, make sure the memory-card is available (no USB-cable should be attached). Press the menu button. Then select “import items”

The Ackera file-browser will be displayed, simply navigate to the file you have imported and tap on it. To navigate backwards, use the “back-button” on the phone. To close the file-browser without importing, hit the back-button several times.

i want to create my own item-databse. Can i do that?

Yes, use your favorite text-editor to create a custom file containing all the items you want to add. Copy the file to your phones external memory card according to the following format:

Name: Apple

Carbs/100 gram: 8.2

Protein/100 gram: 0.2

Fat/ 100 gram: 0

Alcohol/ 100 gram:0

grams per serving: 1 (if you are not sure what serving size to use, just type 1, and specify “gram” as the unit to use.

Unit: gram

GI-Value: 38 (If you do not know the GI-value for the specified item, use “-1” 

Do not forget that each line must end with a “,”

Beta-testing has begun and a number of devices are now running Ackera. At the time of writing, not one single crash has been reported. But that does not mean they do not exist.

Improvments for this week

  • The message regarding Ackera want to access the phone is no longer showing up (Ackera never has, and probably never will, access the phone anyway) 🙂
  • Number values that doesn’t need to show a decimal-point are now displayed properly (no decimal-point is displayed)
  • Various layout issues such as space between values, right-alignment etc

Why is there almost no HowTo for diets?

The reason is that all these operations (except for adding or removing a meal from a diet) is performed exactly in the same manner for meals. Adding and removing a meal from a diet is also basically the same as adding or removing a food-item from a diet. For more inforamtion please have a look at:

How can i copy a diet

To copy a diet, in the diet-view, tap and hold on the diet you would like to make a copy of.

This will bring up a new dialog, tap on “copy”

Enter a name for the newly created diet and tap “OK”. (Name must be unique)

Is it possible to view details about a food-item in a similair way as a meal or diet?

Yes it is, you’ll need to add the food-item to a meal or diet first. To add a food-item to a meal, please visit the following link:

Then, in the meal-view, tap on a meal

This will bring up the breakfasts detailed view.

tap on the item you would like to view details about. A view similair breakfast detail-view will appear.
